Episode 8: David Solomon
In this episode Rich talks to David Solomon, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, a titan among global banking firms. Among the many financial services Goldman offers, it manages over 2 trillion dollars in assets for governments, corporations and institutional investors. For 2019, Goldman reported $35 billion in revenues. And while the firm manages the fortunes of 10,000 of the world's 70,000 wealthiest individuals, it's now expanding the scope of its business, partnering with companies like Walmart and Apple to enter consumer banking. This is one of many big changes Solomon is spearheading as its CEO. He's relaxed the dress code (which garnered headlines) and pushed company executives to bring their authentic selves to work. It's not just talk. He walks the walk. Solomon enjoys a side career as a music producer and DJ under the moniker, DJ D-Sol. The story of his rise to lead Goldman Sachs holds inspiring lessons about leadership, relationship-building, work/life balance, and patience.
