From Slavery to Mass Incarceration with Dr. Byron Price

Black History Year - May 10, 2021 - 24:27

It's true: slavery never ended. It's a dehumanizing system that continues to enslave, exploit, and devalue Black people in one particular institution: prisons. Today, Dr. Byron Price - author of such work as "Merchandizing Prisoners" and "Prison Privatization" - takes us on a journey from slavery to convict leasing to the modern-day policing industry as we know it, to show the clear connection between slavery and prisons, and to offer insight into how our community can begin to fight against mass incarceration.
